blog hacked?

Posted by E17 Designers

It appear the E17 Designers blog was hacked.

I think that for the first time, I may have sent a link to all of the live members, and I was signed in as admin-the link could click to the wesbite....I am guessing this could have happened.

The admin. spread sheets would show up but luckily it is only the record for bookings, not money or bank linked! I don't keep any bank records of members on the website.

The blog that showed up were not serious, and rather teenage....or younger! So if any of you have someone who may be reading your emails....?!

So I have deleted. I am sure you will recognise anythign that is not in my words so do email me directly if you suspect anything.

Also I usually only use this for members news. Any public news, I have to share and link, through Facebook or Twitter, so no -one else could do it ...unless they knew all of my passwords (I hope!

Vestry Showcase-next one booked for February

Posted by E17 Designers

We are collecting the work from the Vestry House Museum this week so I'll email those of you who have supplied goods to collect.

The showcase has been booked again for February to cover Valentines Day so I'll email everyone about the booking soon.

As usual, we can probably only display one item per designer. I will see if they can stock any more items, in case we can make sales!

I always list the deisgners and contact email addresses so as long as you label clearly, people can get in touch!

Abstract Yarn shop opening

Posted by E17 Designers

ABSTRACT ADDITION
There is a vibrant new addition to the conservation area of
Walthamstow Village in East London. What in 1887 was a leather
seller, today is the home of Abstract.
Abstract, at 54 Beulah Road E17, is a purple chocolate box of
amazing, colourful wool, silk and cotton for the knitting and crochet
artists. The little shop, run by Alessandra Rigillo, is a cosy living
room that is fast becoming a hub for creative minded people.
Inspiration and support are on offer, as are Knitting and Crochet
classes and workshops.
A talented artist from Rome, Alessandra studied at the prestigious
Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam, and has lived in
Walthamstow since 2007. With a life long passion for crochet,
Alessandra designs and makes vintage inspired hats and accessories,
which are available at Abstract.
She personally chooses all the yarns that are on display in her shop:
luxury silk by Debbie Bliss, mercerized cotton by Rico, beautiful
alpaca and baby llama by Mirasol,as well as traditional Harris wool,
handdyed
camel and silk from Travel Knitter and the quirky and
trendy yarn produced by Sheep of Steel.
Abstract will be officially opened, on the 1st of November 2013, by
internationally acclaimed knitwear designer Debbie Bliss, also a
local resident of Walthamstow. Guests will warm up with mulled wine
and hot chocolate, and be entertained by demonstrations of spinning
from Kevin McNaughton of Walthamstow Spinners, harp music by Mike
Parker, and ukelele band UkE17.
Abstract looks forward to becoming a key point on the local map for
artists of East London.

Knitting Pattern show!

Posted by E17 Designers

What is Knitting Pattern?
Inspired by an old book of knitting instructions, Deborah Nash has written a new play that explores patterns – those we live, and those we knit. On a lonely mountain, Three Fates make, measure and cut yarn, click-clacking the shapes of other people’s lives – until their knitting is interrupted by the arrival of the enigmatic Purl.

Project History & Creative Team

Knitting Pattern is directed by Becka McFadden with movement direction by Scheherazaad Cooper and performed by Alexandra Draghici, Barbora Hanusova, Lara Parmiani and Eliza Soroga. Design by Karen Mayor. We are an international team of performance and cross-arts practitioners hailing from six different countries. Goldsmiths, University of London, was our primary common denominator – until we all learned how to knit together!

See Knitting Pattern at the inaugural Words Over Waltham Forest Festival at Walthamstow Central Library (16th November, 11am and 2pm) and Leytonstone Library (22nd November, 4.30 and 6.00pm). Admission is free.

East End WI Christmas Market

Posted by E17 Designers

East End  WI Christmas Market

Please note the evening is for women only.  The women's  charity we support always attend this event to receive gifts,  and we feel it is inappropriate to have men  with us on this occasion.  Of course some male partners/friends may help to deliver or set up, but the evening itself is for women.

Tuesday 3rd December
We will be open from 6pm for set up at  our meeting hall at the back of St Margaret's House, Old Ford Road.  If you are coming by car, you will not be able to park on the forecourt or immediately in front of St Maggies as there is a zebra crossing there.  There are generally free parking spaces from 5.30pm nearby in Approach Road and Globe Road.  The nearest tube is Bethnal Green.

The Hall is quite spacious and there will be a single table for your goods and seating for you.  The tables will not be covered or decorated.  There should be adequate space for a single rail if you need one to display goods.  However, you won't be able to hang anything, including signage, on the walls as these are already decorated by the group of disabled adults who use the space during the day.

We will be serving refreshments and mulled wine during the evening and our members have been asked to bring a small wrapped gift for the women of U-Turn, a local charity which helps women off the streets.  We will hand these over for women from the charity during the course of the evening.  .  We will also have a small crafting space where women can make some Christmas tree decorations.
something
We will be there from 5.30 onwards to let you get into the hall to set up.  People will start arriving from 7pm.  Most stay for an one- two hours.

If you need any further details the contact for this event is  Niki Stevens 07834714765   Niki.stevens@btinternet.com

The charge for a table is £5.00 although we would also ask each stall holder to donate a small something for a goody bag to be raffled during the evening.
