Network and Knit

There are too many of you to organise large networking events so why not come along to our informal Knit Club on the First Tuesdays and Third Wednesday of the month. It is organised by a small group of friends, so no pressure to join in!

Ye Old Rose and Crown, Hoe Street, E17, from 8pm in a usually not very well lit table at the back!

Bring a project and catch up- this members website gives you regular info (thanks for paying your annual fee!), but the social aspect of meeting in real time only happens at events, so this is an ideal opportunity to drop in when you can.

We Make London at Spitalfields Market

 Old Spitalfields Market- About the We Make London area:

The We Make London area will be a section of 30-50 stalls all grouped together to create our own We Make London vibe within the market.

The We Make London Spitalfields Market dates are:

Saturday 6th October

Saturday 13th October

Sunday 14th October

Saturday 10th November

Sunday 11th November

Saturday 22nd December

Stall prices form October and November will be £70 for one Saturday, or a special price of £120 if you book the Saturday and Sunday (13th and 14th Oct and 10th and 11th November). Stall prices for December will be £85. It may be possible to offer a half stall at £35.(£42.50 Dec) Please email for details.

The Art and Crafts Christmas Market in Leytonstone is now established as a very worthwhile and successful event.

 2012 Christmas Market on Saturday 1st December 2012.

The Market will be open from 10:30 am – 5 pm, the rent remains at £10 per stall, paid on the day, and we do expect all stallholders to staff their stalls for the whole time of the Market.

This year there will be only 63 Stalls (plus a waiting list) and we expect that we will be oversubscribed – so early applications are advisable!!

From fashion to furniture, hats to handbags, craft to cushions and from ceramics to silverware Liberty is encourages anyone with a creative passion to bring in their designs for the panel to assess. Oxjam stitch in

Craft Fairs around London

Currently researching We Make London and Selvedge Fair for a cooperative space. Will keep you in the loop if we can secure this...doesn't stop you applying yourself! And do let us know if there are other events where you would like to share-we can share the info on the members news or you can blog it yourself, make sure you include a contact number/email address.  Although we send a link to news every one or two weeks, the members area is accessible anytime using your assigned email address and password.

new classes added to the schedule

People kept asking me for a specific follow up class to the beginners class and I have responded by booking in soem very cool classes. Learn to use zips in this 3 hour class, and come away with a zippered purse, pencil case or whatever else tickles your fancy! Lots of people are petrified of zips, even experienced seamstresses, so this is an amazing opportunity to get to grips with zips before you have even had time to get worried about usign them!

Small, friendly and local classes, max 4 people in a class. £40 pp inc materials, consessions available.

Christmas booking-two fair dates

Don't forget we are doing Friday 30th Nov 7-10 or Saturday 1st  Dec 2-6.

Please book and pay for your table as soon as you are sure. If you have a second choice, make it clear in the booking form, in the comments or special requirement section. If we can accomodate your second choice, you can pay nearer the time. Members booking will stay open until the end of October but we suggest booking and paying in advance to confirm your space....I think we filled up in advance last year.

Stratford Fair-Saturday, 6 October at Bryant Street Methodist Centre

BOOKING DETAILS: The date has been set for Saturday, 6 October at Bryant Street Methodist Centre (in the main hall - indoors), Stratford, E15 4RU from 1pm to 4pm (set up starting at 12pm).
The stalls are free, entrance to the general public is free.  The event will be advertised throughout the community with flyers and posters in shop windows as well as through social media channels.  The only thing I ask in return from the stallholders is that they donate 20% (this is negotiable) of their proceeds from the day to the cause.

As well as stalls, there will be a café selling home baked treats and goodies, live entertainment and activities for the kids.  We also have some great prizes for the raffle including romantic dinners for two at Café Mondo and Dar Marrakech (local restaurants), comp tickets to a show at Stratford Theatre Royal, memberships for Stratford Picturehouse and other prizes donated by local independent businesses.

The charity chosen for the raffle is the Newham City Farm (via Community Links) which is run by volunteers and benefits the whole community and beyond from the very young to the old being both recreational and educational and also therapeutic to people with special needs! In return for a designer goody bag (each designer attending can pop an item in the bag) she will provide a workshop for about 10-12 people at her house in E17. Bring a bottle and snacks. Bargain.

She will discuss the basic "how to's" and "tips and tricks"-this will help everyone in the promotion of their work.

Christmas booking opens Monday 10th September

Booking for Christmas opens next Monday 10th September; as this is very popular, book and pay for your first choice. (If you wish to make a second choice, you are welcome to request a table and make a note that it is your SECOND CHOICE.  It all worked out last year and in fact the numbers were equal each day and due to the special offers, at least 75 people were recorded as having attended both events.
